Sunday, March 12, was Arbor Day in China. On this day, people are encouraged to plant and/or care for trees.

The school organized two tree planting events for all the staff and students. One group of students went to a village nearby to plant trees and the other group (my group) went to a cemetery.

When we arrived at the cemetery, I was very surprised to see MANY volunteers planting trees. Our group brought our own tools including shovels, water buckets, and gloves. This was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. I even got to name a tree (Megan Junior). The weather was a little cold, but once I started digging, I was not cold at all. Judy (a student affairs worker) and I had a lot of fun together during this activity. According to our coworkers, we made "BEAUTIFUL!" holes. Luckily for Judy and I, there were no zombies at this cemetery....
